I attended the J&B Met in Cape Town last Saturday and it truly was an amazing day with great weather, huge horses and loads of colourful and beautiful women.
Whenever there’s a theme involved you see people pushing the envelope – like the girls with the skirts that were more like belts, which resulted in a mexican wave emulation when every mans head turned violently as they walked by.
All in all it was a great day chilling in the J&B Jet Lounge with friends, champagne and suits!
More J&B Met photos can be found at the Cape Town website.
So it’s the 33rd annual J&B Met tomorrow at the Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town tomorrow and I’m attending a few others and heading straight for the J&B Jet Lounge Tent, where you get the following:

I’ve never bet on a horse before, so will see which trusty steed stands out. If I could choose any horse to bet on… it would be this one – because it’s so AMAZING!
Look out for me tomorrow and I’ll buy you a drink if you give me a high five!
This bicycle colour fail picture is pretty self explanatory…
Coca-Cola recently installed a special vending machine, a ‘happiness machine’, in a local university campus.
The vending machine transformed, providing doses of happiness to all the students that were there that day.
Yesterday I attended a media tour of the new Taj Hotel in Cape Town’s city centre.
We were welcomed with freshly printed name cards and a delicious cocktail, giving the appearance that their check in times are pretty quick.
I was given an ID book with pages on which I had to receive a stamp to make sure that I had viewed every major room in the hotel.
We moved from room to room, each with a detailed explanation of it’s history… this was fascinating, as the building is the old reserve bank and they have managed to use many of the original doors, staircases and other items, which date back to over 100 years ago.
When entering a new room, we were greeted by the manager and offered different types of foods and cocktails – so much effort has gone into the menu for each restaurant, which offers delicious food and great wine pairings.
The rooms, spa and Presidential suite (an entire floor) are amazing – also not to badly priced.
Go check it out.
McDonalds invited those passing by a free cup of coffee at their Vancouver locations using a creative ad in a bus shelter.
The sign would release bursts of steam from a machine inside the sign, revealing this message:
Very Cool.

Ogilvy Cape Town launched an amazing countrywide road trip last year to pay tribute to the the VW Citi Golf, which will no longer be produced.
This short TV Ad highlights the trip.

A number of beaches along the False Bay coastline have been closed to the public until further notice, following yesterday’s shark attack at Fish Hoek beach (in the South Peninsula).
Western Cape Lifesaving spokesperson, Keith Matthews, says the search for 37- year-old Lloyd Skinner from Zimbabwe, continues today.
The man was swimming in chest deep water when he was attacked by the shark. A surf and land search commenced at first light this morning.
Matthews says it’s not clear at this stage for how long the beaches will remain closed. “It also includes St James, Muizenberg and False Bay beaches. Other emergency services are also helping with the search including NSRI.

You may be wondering why I posted ‘Rich Mahogony’ as my Twitter and Facebook status today… Well people, its breast cancer awareness month and the little social media meme supporting this has gone viral.
Just type in a colour (add #mybracolour for Twitter) and update… I hope none of you are wearing granny panty beige today!
During the Christmas holidays my best friend got married and I was his best man, which meant that I had to throw him a bachelor party.
Neal isn’t one for strippers and big boozing, but is creative and adventurous… so the party had to follow suit.
We kidnapped him on the morning of the 26th of December and made him put on the outfit seen in the picture below.
We then made our way down to the beachfront and gave him a sign which promoted that he was about to be married and that he will sing for money. There was a tracklist of love songs that people could choose and we printed out the lyrics for him to sing.
With classics like ‘my girl’, ‘build me up buttercup’,'when a man loves a woman’ and a few others, we had the whole pub singing along and made R400 in the hour that we were there.
After that we hit paintball and then had a steak braai.
It was an awesome Man Day!

On Sunday, Cape Town was treated to one of the best live performances I’ve seen to date.
The Killers rocked the stage, which was set in the stunning Val De Vie Wine and Polo Estate near Paarl.
